We had a nice, quiet and small Christmas at home this year. We painted gingerbread the night before (as seen below). Then it was off to bed for the boys so that Guy and I could clean the house and set up for the morning, plus we still had to wrap the presents. We made it in to bed by 11, not too bad these days, a pretty normal time for us currently.
The boys were up at 7am, then it was into the dining room to see what was there. Skylar noticed that the stockings were hung up and had things in them. The boys got them down and were having fun discovering all that was in them. They got some matchbox fire trucks, a helicopter, and an airplane. They each got a Thomas the tank engine video, a slinky, some chocolate coins (which Skylar later shoved down the bathroom sink and plugged it up), and a tangerine.
Skylar loved all the fun toys.
As soon as Niko discovered there was food in the stocking nothing else mattered. The toys sat on the floor and he wanted his tangerine pealed. He ate it super fast and then proceeded to go and eat his brother's, while Skylar was distracted by toys.
After the stockings were emptied they had a blast playing with the toys and never noticed that there were presents under the tree. After a while Guy finally told them to look under the tree. Skylar noticed the presents and found the ones with his name on it. Niko sat in his chair legs crossed drinking his milk; we compare his milk to others' morning coffee: we don't try to talk to him til he's had at least one cup. Skylar got some books and a personal video camera. Niko got a remote control airplane (not for flying in the sky) and a harmonica. The boys also got a fun toy boat for the bath and a really fun game from the Hughes family. Nothing for Pepper this year.... She is waiting to cash in next year.
After presents were opened we had a yummy breakfast of french toast, played with some toys and Skyped with Nana, Papa and Auntie Whitney. The weather seemed to be holding out so we tried our luck and headed out for a walk on the trail. We had so much fun, the boys were exploring and we all enjoyed being out. While we were out on the trail we saw a big fox (or was it a coyote?) laying down by the creek; it was pretty neat to see him. We had to end our walk early because the rain was coming down harder. We made it back home all a little soggy but with smile. The rest of the day was just spent lounging, playing, and eating. We also got to watch the day recap seen through the eyes of Skylar, he did and awesome job filming. It was so fun to watch.

These are adorable, Meaghann! I really want to come visit, but Riley's been sick with a cough. Hopefully sometime next week!
Looks like a great Christmas. Where did you get the huge gingerbread cutter? I love that.
What a great Christmas! Julia decorated one of those giant gingerbread men also. Got it for 99 cents! I also picked up two of their sugar cookie kits for 99 cents also. We are going to use them for Valentine's cookies. Pepper looks adorable in her Christmas pink and red.
